Wellness coaching is a process that facilitates sustainable behavior change by shining the light on people’s unique skills, strengths, and resources, and helping people transform dreams and desires into achievable goals through effective action. Wellness Coaching is now on a swift positive trajectory due to the evidence that demonstrates it’s role in improved client/patient outcomes, medical compliance, employee health and productivity, and lower health care costs. Wellness coaching “bridges the gap” between orthodox healthcare within organizational systems and behavioral change.

Wellness is the mastery of one's physical and mental wellbeing – weight, fitness, nutrition, stress. Through this supportive relationship, Wellness Coaches empower their clients with focus on facilitation, rather than prescription.

Wellness coaching draws on the principles and methods of motivational interviewing, positive psychology, solution-focused approaches, the transtheoretical model of change, cognitive-behavioral approaches, structured journaling, and newer approaches.

Wellness Coaching helps people define goals that are important to them and uses science-based strategies to achieve those goals. The purpose of wellness coaching is to help people explore their own desires, ability, reasons, and needs for making changes in their lives, and then take action to make and sustain those changes.

It is well established that sustained change comes from within a person. All change is really self change. Imposing solutions on people may deliver some temporary benefit, but sustained change won’t happen unless the person “owns” the process of change.

Rather than teaching, advising, directing, or prescribing what another person should do, Wellness Coaches act as guides to help others forge their own unique path toward greater well-being. This is done through empathic conversation and employing science-based tools and techniques to support the self-change process.

While achieving the goals determined at the outset of their coaching program is what the client is ultimately working toward, the benefits extend far beyond that. Because wellness coaching taps into a person’s own potential and utilizes it to foster change, the Institute for Wellness Education says that “people not only enjoy the benefits of the change, but they develop a rich set of competencies that can help them in other areas of their lives.”

Such competencies include an awareness of the power of choice and how it can be used to create the life one desires, as well as knowledge about how to make effective changes to improve personal health and well-being. Wellness coaching also helps the client to develop self-awareness, improve feelings of self-worth, and achieve balance.

Workplace wellness is any workplace health promotion activity or organizational policy designed to support healthy behavior in the workplace and to improve health outcomes. Known as 'corporate wellbeing' outside the US, workplace wellness often comprises activities such as health education, medical screenings, weight management programs, on-site fitness programs or facilities. These programs can be classified as primary, secondary, or tertiary health programs, depending on the goal of the specific program. Primary prevention programs usually target a fairly healthy employee population, and encourage them to more frequently engage in health behaviors that will encourage ongoing good health. Example of primary prevention programs include stress management, and exercise and healthy eating promotion. Secondary prevention programs are targeted at reducing behavior that is considered a risk factor for poor health. Examples of such programs include smoking cessation programs and screenings for high blood pressure or other cardiovascular disease related risk factors. Tertiary health programs address existing health problems, and aim to help control or reduce symptoms, or to help slow the progression of a disease or condition. Group Coaching can be done by tele-conference calls OR in person at local establishments.  The beauty of coaching in groups is that you not only get coaching from Jetro but also from your peers who may have already succeeded at what you are wanting.  Although you do not get as much individual coaching time, you learn and take value away from the coaching that goes on with others.  Another perk: the cost is considerably lower than individual coaching.

The dynamics and synergy of Group Coaching add interest and fun!  The relationships and benefits that result can be priceless.  At times, these groups may be a hybrid of teaching and coaching by Jetro, depending on the topic.  It is usually best to be in a group that has goals in similar areas.   Everyone takes part in every session.  Everyone sets goals, looks at possible obstacles, and determines what action they will take.  Accountability is the bottom line for success.  In individual coaching, clients are accountable to their Coach.  In Group Coaching you are accountable also to your Coach and your Coach Buddies.

Minimum 5 people but no more than 15 people required to conduct a group session - The group session can either be done by phone or in person if location is in the same city as the life coach. Group sessions can be on any of our Life Coaching topics above.

Part Two: The ICF Definition of Coaching

Professional Life Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.

In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client's progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. ICF member coaches and ICF credentialed coaches recognize that results are a matter of the client's intentions, choices and actions, supported by the coach's efforts and application of the coaching process

Part Three: The ICF Standards of Ethical Conduct

Professional Conduct At Large As a coach:
  1. I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects positively upon the coaching profession and I will refrain from engaging in conduct or making statements that may negatively impact the public's understanding or acceptance of coaching as a profession.
  2. I will not knowingly make any public statements that are untrue or misleading, or make false claims in any written documents relating to the coaching profession.
  3. I will respect different approaches to coaching. I will honor the efforts and contributions of others and not misrepresent them as my own.
  4. I will be aware of any issues that may potentially lead to the misuse of my influence by recognizing the nature of coaching and the way in which it may affect the lives of others.
  5.  I will at all times strive to recognize personal issues that may impair, conflict or interfere with my coaching performance or my professional relationships. Whenever the facts and circumstances necessitate, I will promptly seek professional assistance and determine the action to be taken, including whether it is appropriate to suspend or terminate my coaching relationship(s).
  6. As a trainer or supervisor of current and potential coaches, I will conduct myself in accordance with the ICF Code of Ethics in all training and supervisory situations.
  7. I will conduct and report research with competence, honesty and within recognized scientific standards. My research will be carried out with the necessary approval or consent from those involved, and with an approach that will reasonably protect participants from any potential harm. All research efforts will be performed in a manner that complies with the laws of the country in which the research is conducted.
  8. I will accurately create, maintain, store and dispose of any records of work done in relation to the practice of coaching in a way that promotes confidentiality and complies with any applicable laws.
  9. I will use ICF member contact information (email addresses, telephone numbers, etc.) only in the manner and to the extent authorized by the ICF.
Professional Conduct With Clients
  1. I will be responsible for setting clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern any physical contact that I may have with my clients.
  2. I will not become sexually involved with any of my clients.
  3. I will construct clear agreements with my clients, and will honor all agreements made in the context of professional coaching relationships.
  4. I will ensure that, prior to or at the initial session, my coaching client understands the nature of coaching, the bounds of confidentiality, financial arrangements and other terms of the coaching agreement.
  5. I will accurately identify my qualifications, expertise and experience as a coach.
  6. I will not intentionally mislead or make false claims about what my client will receive from the coaching process or from me as their coach.
  7. I will not give my clients or prospective clients information or advice I know or believe to be misleading.
  8. I will not knowingly exploit any aspect of the coach-client relationship for my personal, professional or monetary advantage or benefit.
  9. I will respect the client's right to terminate coaching at any point during the process. I will be alert to indications that the client is no longer benefiting from our coaching relationship.
  10. If I believe the client would be better served by another coach, or by another resource, I will encourage the client to make a change.
  11. I will suggest that my clients seek the services of other professionals when deemed appropriate or necessary.
  12. I will take all reasonable steps to notify the appropriate authorities in the event a client discloses an intention to endanger self or others.
  1. I will respect the confidentiality of my client's information, except as otherwise authorized by my client, or as required by law.
  2. I will obtain agreement from my clients before releasing their names as clients or references, or any other client identifying information.
  3. I will obtain agreement from the person being coached before releasing information to another person compensating me.
Conflicts of Interest
  1. I will seek to avoid conflicts between my interests and the interests of my clients.
  2. Whenever any actual conflict of interest or the potential for a conflict of interest arises, I will openly disclose it and fully discuss with my client how to deal with it in whatever way best serves my client.
  3. I will disclose to my client all anticipated compensation from third parties that I may receive for referrals of that client.
  4. I will only barter for services, goods or other non-monetary remuneration when it will not impair the coaching relationship.

Part Four: The ICF Pledge of Ethics

As a professional coach, I acknowledge and agree to honor my ethical obligations to my coaching clients and colleagues and to the public at large. I pledge to comply with the ICF Code of Ethics, to treat people with dignity as independent and equal human beings, and to model these standards with those whom I coach. If I breach this Pledge of Ethics or any part of the ICF Code of Ethics, I agree that the ICF in its sole discretion may hold me accountable for so doing. I further agree that my accountability to the ICF for any breach may include loss of my ICF membership and/or my ICF credentials.

What is your coaching style?
I look for the deeper issues and I will employ any models or tools which I think will benefit the client. I like logical reasoning behind things, and I hope you'll find me quite down to earth. I want you to feel completely supported, understood and listened to. That doesn't mean I will let you off the hook where I feel you need to be challenged, however. I'll be working to open your mind to ways of thinking that better serve you. I will share insights with you where I feel it's appropriate, and I like to see the funny side of things.

Will the benefits of Wellness Coaching wear off or will they last?
The goal of my coaching is to facilitate lasting change at a deep level. In order to do this I need to challenge you to push past your comfort zone in the way you think about things and identify and mess up any old strategies or beliefs which are holding you back. The more you approach coaching with an open mind and a willingness and commitment to change, the better the results you will get.

How is coaching different from mentoring, therapy or counselling?
Patients seeking counselling or therapy may have a problem arising from a specific incident, condition or trauma. Some people are not suitable for coaching because their immediate needs are different and may require medical or more specialized attention.

Mentoring tends to be more focused on a specific area of expertise where the client benefits from the specific knowledge and experience of the mentor in a particular area. Mentoring for specific career or skill areas can be highly beneficial.

Wellness Coaching can be about the "doing", i.e. helping the client create specific goals, identify specific tasks and commit to them. My coaching is about the "being", that is guiding you to be the person you want and need to be to achieve what you really want out of business.

Is your coaching available in my location?
I coach using the channels described below, sometimes by phone, all over the world. You can expect no judgement, complete confidentiality and my full and undivided attention. I want you to feel listened to, respected and understood. I will be looking for your strengths and your true capabilities and for ways of bringing those things into your service.

Do you operate by a code of ethics?
Yes, I undertake to abide by the ethical standards set out by the International Coach Federation.

How do I get started?
Fill the Free Consultation form to the right, to choose a time for your free session.  We'll arrange a time to have a chat and I'll answer any questions you may have. If you decide you would like to go ahead and work with me, you select which package you would like and we'll arrange a suitable time for your coaching sessions. You'll then receive a questionnaire to get things started. However, if you are sure of what you want, you can choose a suitable package below.

  1. I understand that a Wellness Coaching program may provide group coaching during our coaching sessions.
  2. Each coaching session will last based on agreement.
  3. Payment is required prior to each coaching session.
  4. Session cancellations and/or rescheduling must be made within a minimum of 24 hours before any scheduled coaching session by email: coaching@jetroolowole.com. If no notice or late notice is received your coach will be disappointed and your session will be lost and no refunds will be given. Remember, your time slot is set aside for you. So if you don’t give the required 24 hour notice in time then that time slot goes to waste and could have been given to someone else.
  5. At any point, you the client can stop the coaching session and you can terminate the coach- client coaching process at anytime. The Coach can also terminate the coach-client coaching process at anytime. In the event of termination, no compensation will be granted on sessions used up to that point.
  6. You understand that coaching sessions cannot take the place for professional advice by a Medical Doctor, Lawyer, Financial or Business Person, or any other qualified Professional Person.
  7. Coaching does not involve the diagnosis, therapy or treatment of any kind. If you are seeing a Doctor for mental health or other health or non-health reasons, please consult with them first to get permission to see a Wellness Coach.
  8. It is the role of the Coach to act as a guide during the coaching process. The results that will come from the sessions will depend solely on the responsibility you take for taking action and making the necessary changes you are trying to achieve.
  9. The Coaching sessions are 100% non judgmental and confidential unless required by the law.
